In the corridors of Nigerian constitutional law, a rivalry between two former governors of Imo State has crystallized into a question the republic has not yet fully answered: can a sitting governor, whose tenure has not yet expired, lawfully contest and assume a Senate seat? Rochas Okorocha, who once held the Imo West senatorial seat, has brought suit against his successor Hope Uzodimma at the Federal High Court in Abuja, challenging both the integrity of the APC primary results and the constitutional permissibility of Uzodimma's candidacy.
