In the Salish Sea off British Columbia, researchers have identified two previously unknown species of sea spiders — creatures with hairy legs, red eyes, and a three-lipped mouth — marking the first such discovery in the region in nearly a century. Their emergence from the ocean floor reminds us that even in well-watched waters, the living world exceeds our maps of it.
