Twenty-five years after Adam J. Lewis perished in the World Trade Center, a school bearing his name stands in Bridgeport, Connecticut — not as a monument to absence, but as a living institution shaped by his widow's grief and resolve. Patty Lewis, who became principal of the Adam J. Lewis Academy, chose to answer loss not with silence but with classrooms, and in doing so joined a long human tradition of transforming sorrow into something that serves the living. The school asks, quietly and daily, what we owe to those taken too soon — and answers with the sound of children learning.
