Bottrell studies invisible dark matter by simulating galaxy collisions with computers and comparing results to real-world observations to help particle physicists narrow their search. The same computational models used to map galaxies are being applied at medtech company ArthroLase to improve robotic guidance for knee replacement surgeries performed on 80,000 Australians annually.
