In 2026, Polish artist Paweł Kalinowski led seven vintage Porsches and twelve travelers across 4,000 kilometers of Eastern Europe — not to arrive somewhere, but to generate something. The journey, unrehearsed and unsupported, was itself the raw material: breakdowns, mountain passes, chance encounters, and shared time transformed into a multimedia artwork called Contact Layer of Shinjuku. It is the third chapter in a long meditation on how fiction and lived experience borrow from each other, and how memory is made — sometimes from things that happened, sometimes from things that never did.
