Tonight, as evening settles over India and morning light reaches Cupertino, Apple gathers its audience at Apple Park for a keynote it has named 'Surprise and shine.' The company's latest iPhones are expected to take center stage, alongside a long-rumoured first foldable device that has been traded in leaks under the name iPhone Ultra. Much of what the world believes about that device remains a sketch drawn by reports rather than a fact announced by its maker. What the presentation reveals will show how much of the anticipation was truth and how much was hope.
Apple's iPhone 18 event today: how to watch the Pro models and the expected foldable iPhone in India
Everything said about the foldable comes from reports and leaks

So what's actually happening tonight?
Mimi
Apple holds its "Surprise and shine" keynote at Apple Park at 10 am Pacific, which is 10:30 pm in India. You can watch on Apple's website, the Apple TV app, or YouTube Live, which the developer page lists.
Mark
And the big draw is the foldable?
Mimi
That's the expectation. Reports call it the iPhone Ultra, with a book-style design, a roughly 7.8-inch inner screen and a titanium frame. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are also expected.
Luke
Let's be careful there. The name Ultra isn't Apple's. Apple hasn't confirmed any name, spec or launch detail for tonight.
Mark
So where do the specs come from?
Luke
Reports and leaks. The thickness figures, the 48-megapixel cameras, Touch ID in the power button: all of it is attributed to reporting, not to Apple.
Mimi
The crease is an interesting detail. Reports say Apple focused on making it less visible, with a liquid-metal hinge and ultra-thin glass among the technologies considered.
Luke
Note the word considered. That doesn't tell us what ships.
Mark
What about software?
Mimi
Reports suggest iOS 27 may add side-by-side multitasking, iPad-style layouts and hinge-position support for the foldable.
Luke
Again, that's reported, and we don't have pricing or India availability. Those are the things to watch tonight.

Apple's 'Surprise and shine' keynote begins today, September 9, at 10 am Pacific, at Apple Park in Cupertino. For viewers in India, that means 10:30 pm IST, so the evening will run long, but there is no need to travel anywhere. Apple has confirmed the event can be streamed live through its website, the Apple TV app, and YouTube Live.
The spotlight is expected to fall on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, and on Apple's first foldable iPhone. Reports describe a device that opens like a book, with an inner screen near 7.8 inches, a titanium frame, and Touch ID built into the power button. Apple has not confirmed any of this, including the name iPhone Ultra, so the foldable remains largely a story told by leaks.
Software may also take the stage, with reports suggesting iOS 27 will offer side-by-side multitasking and layouts suited to a folding screen. Tonight will show which of these details hold, and what the new phones will cost, including for buyers in India.
Apple's "Surprise and shine" keynote begins today, September 9, at 10 am Pacific Time at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. For viewers in India, that is 10:30 pm IST, which means the presentation will run late into the evening.
Apple has confirmed that the event can be watched online, so there is no need to be in the room. Indian viewers can stream it live on Apple's official website and through the Apple TV app. Apple's developer page for the September event also lists YouTube Live as a third way to watch.
The centrepiece is expected to be the next iPhone lineup, led by the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Reports also point to Apple showing its first foldable iPhone, a device widely referred to as the iPhone Ultra. New Apple Watch and AirPods models are expected as well, along with possible smart-home products.
The name iPhone Ultra comes from reports, not from Apple, and the company has not confirmed it. The same goes for the specifications attributed to the phone. According to those reports, the foldable would open like a book, with an inner display of around 7.8 inches and an outer screen of roughly 5.4 to 5.5 inches. It is said to have a titanium frame and to measure about 4.5mm thick when unfolded and about 9mm when folded.
Other reported details include Touch ID built into the power button instead of Face ID, and two 48-megapixel rear cameras with no dedicated telephoto lens.
Reports also suggest Apple has worked to make the crease in the folding display less visible. A liquid-metal hinge and ultra-thin glass are among the technologies said to be under consideration for that purpose.
Software is expected to get time on stage too. Reports suggest iOS 27 could include features tailored to the foldable, such as side-by-side multitasking, iPad-style layouts and support for different hinge positions. Updates to iPadOS, watchOS and other Apple platforms may also appear in the keynote.
Apple has not confirmed the names, specifications or launch details of any product expected at the event. Everything said about the foldable comes from reports and leaks ahead of the keynote. Tonight's presentation should show which of those details hold up, and what the new phones will cost, including for buyers in India.
