For as long as people have kept plants indoors, the act of repotting has carried a quiet cruelty — uprooting something established and asking it to begin again. A Glasgow design studio called POTR has turned this familiar domestic grief into a design problem worth solving, producing a planter called Helix that expands with its inhabitant rather than forcing displacement. Drawing on origami geometry used by NASA and pairing it with a self-regulating water reservoir, POTR is proposing that the container, not the plant, should be the thing that adapts.
